From 1 January 2023 the new obligations for packaging producers come into force following the entry into force of legislative decree n.116 of 3 September 2020 in implementation of the new EU rules on packaging that have returned mandatory labeling in the Italian market. There will be an obligation to indicate, for the purposes of identification and classification of the packaging, the nature of the packaging materials used.
What is environmental labelling?
The environmental labeling of packaging provides for the identification, with a special label, of the materials of which the packaging is made and the indication of the correct management at the end of their life destined for the final consumer.
The information that must be entered on the label is:
the type of packaging, written description in full or graphic representation;
the identification of the material used with an alphanumeric coding in accordance with the Decision 97/129/EC,
the family of the reference material and the indication of the type of collection, whether differentiated or undifferentiated, and in the case of differentiated collection, indication of the reference material.
